Can't we just go back to our pseudo - quasi - happy existence?

July 12 of 12

I'm back again. And I haven't done a 12 of 12 in several months. I also have never done one on Blogger, I usually post them on myspace. But to do that, I have to first load my pictures onto another site, and well, I just don't have time for all that.

If you don't know what 12 of 12 is, it's simply 12 pictures of your day on the 12th of the month. I absolutely love looking at other people's, and while my life is relatively boring, hopefully you will enjoy mine too. So here we go.

7am. Time to get up. Parker has been playing in his crib for about 20 minutes now. I'm usually up between 6:30 and 7 every morning.

11am. The weekly Roland family Sunday breakfast. This time it's at IHOP. These breakfasts ruin my dieting, but it's good for Parker to spend time with the family.

1pm - Parker has become fascinated with airplanes. But really, with Matthew and I for parents, how could he not be? So I decided to drive out to the airport to watch planes land.

If you look real close, you can see the Eagle gates I used to work at. :) Parker didn't get into the planes so much here because by the time he could see them, they were on the ground. And once they're on the ground, they are just like big cars. Watching planes is much more exciting in Target parking lot. So we decided to drive over and see Matthew at work.

We took Parker up to the top of the tower for a bird's eye view of the planes, but he was more interested in the ceiling fan. I'm sure when he gets older, he will love to go up there!
2:30pm. I thought Parker would be ready for a nap when we got home. But who wants to nap when you can play? So we hung out in his playroom for awhile.

4pm - He finally decided to go to sleep! Wow. What a late nap. I thought about taking advantage of nap time to list some baby clothes on Ebay. But once I went down and looked at the pile, I changed my mind.

4:02pm So instead, I decide to sit out on the patio with Bijoux until Matthew gets home. I don't think I have posted any pictures of our new patio. I love it! It's so cool and shady down there.

4:30pm. Matthew gets home, tired as usual when he has to wake up at 4:30 am. So we did what they always tell you to do when you have a newborn. Sleep when they sleep! So we took a late afternoon siesta, which really did not but make me feel like crap.

6pm. After we all wake up, we feed Parker dinner and head out to the IHM Festival. Matthew decided to use the backpack to get himself in shape to carry it around Morocco. Ummm...

Anyway - Parker was his usual unimpressed self at the festival. All kinds of new sights and smells. But he's just too cool. Yeah. Been there, done that.

If I ever lost Matthew, he was easy to find. Just look for the bright red backpack. At the Wings stand!

When I was little, we went to just about every church festival in N KY. I remember it being loads of fun. As a kid. As an adult...well....it's not so much fun. So I have really been looking forward to doing things like that with Parker. Maybe find the joy in it again. Last night we walked around the IHM festival, bored, and were about to leave when we passed the rides. You know the one with the little cars that goes around in a circle? Oh how I remember riding those when I was little! The height requirement sign said they had to be 24 inches tall. Parker is 29 inches. Matthew said "Let's put him on it" I said "Nooooo! He's too little! He's just a baby! He won't know what to do, he will be scared. He will climb out. He will cry." (I'm not really an overprotective, worrying mommy)

But check him out! He has no concept of personal space yet. He kept grabbing the little girl's steering wheel and hogging the horn button. But how adorable is this! He was the littlest guy on there and lovin every minute of it!

We got home around 8:30, which is WAY past Mr. Parker's bath time. But we had to play with Bijoux for awhile and Practice Our Walking!

That's it! See ya next month!

Change of venue

The above link is to my myspace page. I have decided to post my blogs there for awhile. Maybe permanently. Why bother to have all these pages? Everything in one spot is best. So ... check me out on myspace.

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's

It’s Halloween. MY holiday. And what am I doing? Sitting at home by myself. No plans really – other than going to Matthew’s sister’s house tonight. Most importantly – today is Bijoux’s birthday! She is 4 years old. A most important day that brought that baby into this world and into my life.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

That’s her modeling a mink coat I want to sell on Ebay. I should get on that.

Matthew was supposed to take today off, but something came up at work and he had to go in. I guess the entire air traffic control system would just shut down if he weren’t there. Oh well. They give us money every 2 weeks so I will shut up.

I wanna be Bob Dylan. (sorry. Listening to The Counting Crows)

The builder has finally approved our contract and they have drawn up the prints, so the house is a go. They even gave us hard hats the other day. Hopefully it will be finished by May. I would like to be in there by summer. Now we have to get this place fixed up and ready to sell. The master bathroom has to be painted and we need to remove some furniture. It’s WAY too cluttered in here. I want to have another yard sale, but I guess I will have to wait until spring. I have an entire set of Pfaltzgraff dishes to sell. I could try Ebay, but the shipping would be a pain in the ass.

Back to the house. I have been comparing this house to our house in Georgia and really we got a lot more for a lot less money in Georgia. This new house is about the same size and basically the same floorplan – but it costs $65,000 more! Can you believe that??? The cost of living up here is just ridiculous. Matthew got a pretty nice cost of living raise when we moved up here, but we never really saw it because things cost so much more.

I like having a glass block window in my bathroom and they came back with a price for it. $575. For real glass block. There’s a difference. In Georgia they charged us $900 for acrylic. This house does have some nicer features than our old house. Like all chrome fixtures and door knobs rather than that tacky brass shit.

There is no pain you are receding… (some Pink Floyd now)

We are doing our selections (carpet, cabinets, counters etc) next Friday so we have to get our ducks in a row by then. I am thinking of doing brown bricks – a nice mixture of light and dark brown with white trim. How does that sound? I notice a lot of tan trim with the brown bricks and I don’t like that. I like the contrast of white.

Freebase! Don’t you get too high baby. (Grandmaster Flash. My musical tastes really run the gamut eh?)

So in the time it took 2 songs to play, I typed a total of 5 sentences. Ok so I get sidetracked easily. Sometimes I have the attention span of a 4 year old.

I’m getting hungry. I guess I need to feed my mother today. Do I really want her to live with us? Can I handle that? So long freedom. When I was a teenager, I felt like I was in a prison. Do I really want to relive that? It’s bad enough now. But to have her in the same house? I don’t know. The money will be nice. That’s not nice is it? But really if she pays us a few hundy a month for rent, we can get the basement finished quickly. And she will still be able to save some money in case she needs it in the future.

What would an angel say; the devil wants to know. (Fiona Apple)

Anyway, I guess I should hop in the shower and go pick her up.

Happy Halloween all! I hope you enjoy it. And next year - party at my house! Big one. Halloween, Bijoux’s 5th birthday and my 30th. You will need to be there.
